Cold water plunge in Norway! We are in Oslo, Norway and ready to jump in the freezing Oslo Fjord to rejuvenate our bodies. Located across from the Oslo Opera House, this Fjord is freezing cold. Literally, iced over and you have to break the ice to be able to jump in. 0 Degree Celsius (33 Degrees Fahrenheit)

I appreciate the benefits of cold water as I have been doing cold plunges back home in California. But not this cold. It improves blood circulation, gives me energy (like I drank a few espressos), helps improve your immune system... and overall dopamine boost.

Oslo is known for its floating saunas - alternating between cold plunges and hot saunas. What a way to start your day! And we did this the minute we landed.

Urban sauna culture has taken Oslo by storm, and the Oslo harbour now boasts several options for sauna sessions followed by refreshing dips in the fjord. The joys of sauna life, a tradition hailing from our neighbours in Finland, include relaxation, cleansing of the body and a great social atmosphere. A sauna session in Oslo may also be combined with cultural events and fjord sightseeing. Oslo’s fjordside saunas are located along the harbour promenade, right in the heart of the city centre. They each have their special features –  get your swim gear out and pick your favourite.

Cold plunges, or immersing oneself in cold water, have gained popularity in recent years as a way to improve physical and mental health. Here are five potential health benefits of cold plunges:

1. Reducing inflammation: Cold water immersion has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body, which can help with recovery from exercise, injuries, and other conditions that involve inflammation.

2. Boosting the immune system: Cold water immersion may stimulate the immune system, which can help the body fight off infections and illnesses.

3. Improving circulation: Cold water immersion causes blood vessels to constrict, which can help improve circulation and bring fresh, oxygenated blood to different parts of the body.

4. Enhancing mood and mental clarity: Cold water immersion has been shown to release endorphins, which can improve mood and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

5. Increasing metabolism: Exposure to cold water can also stimulate the body's metabolism, leading to increased calorie burn and potentially aiding in weight loss efforts.

In Oslo, Norway, there are opportunities to experience cold plunges in the beautiful surroundings of the Oslo Fjord. Floating saunas, which are saunas on boats that can be moved around the fjord, offer a unique way to experience the benefits of cold plunges. Some potential benefits of doing cold plunges in the Oslo Fjord with floating saunas include:

1. Being surrounded by beautiful scenery: The Oslo Fjord is known for its stunning natural beauty, and immersing oneself in cold water while surrounded by this scenery can be a truly memorable experience.

2. Combining sauna and cold water therapy: The combination of hot sauna sessions and cold plunges can enhance the benefits of both therapies, as the heat from the sauna can increase blood flow and improve circulation, making the cold plunge even more effective.

3. Socializing with others: Many floating saunas in the Oslo Fjord are designed to accommodate groups of people, making it a great opportunity to socialize with friends or meet new people while experiencing the benefits of cold water therapy.

4. Trying a unique and adventurous activity: For those who enjoy trying new things and seeking out adventure, the opportunity to take a cold plunge in the Oslo Fjord from a floating sauna is a unique and thrilling experience.

5. Potential for increased exposure to nature: Being out on the water can provide a sense of peace and tranquility, and immersing oneself in the natural environment can have its own benefits for mental and physical health.
