AMBASSADOR PANAGOPOULOS OF GREECE MET WITH GEORGE STROUMBOULIS IN WASHINGTON D.C.

George Stroumboulis met with Greek Ambassador to the United States, Christos Panagopoulos, while in Washington D.C. to discuss the global initiative to save Greek migration history called Save The Archives.

Washington D.C. – January 24, 2014 – Save The Archives is proud to announce that it has wrapped up a meeting with Ambassador Christos Panagopoulos at the official Embassy of Greece to the United States in Washington D.C. - resulting in stronger awareness for the international initiative working to preserve Greece’s migration history called SaveTheArchives.com.

The meeting took place on January 24, 2014 between the founder of Save The Archives, George Stroumboulis, and the Greek Ambassador to the United States, Christos Panagopoulos, along with senior press staff and Greek-American journalists. Discussing the importance of the Save The Archives movement, Mr. Stroumboulis shared with Ambassador Panagopoulos the details of the project, the need to raise awareness across Greek communities in the United States and the push to promote its efforts to individual associations and leaders within.

Save The Archives was launched over a year ago with the intent to raise the needed funds to help digitize the more than 200,000 entry archives of Greeks who migrated from Greece to the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. Promoting the importance of preserving this important piece of history, Save The Archives has seen support coming in from around the world and from the diplomatic community, including the Canadian Ambassador to Greece, Robert Peck and the Australian Ambassador to Greece, Jenny Bloomfield. All the entry archives are temporarily housed in the basement of the IOM Athens.
